James Turrell specially designed a Skyspace for Museum Voorlinden and feno developed and provided the light fixtures and control devices for it.
Custom-made light fixtures and control devices, which were developed by feno for the Skyspace, enable the colour rendering and smooth colour gradient necessary for the lighting program.
Inside the museum, a space has been constructed with a square opening in the ceiling through which the viewer looks directly upwards and sees the sky as never before. Turrell has composed a lighting program in harmony with the transitions of dusk and dawn, in which the colours of the twilight slowly shift at sunrise and sunset, growing brighter or darker.
As these moments occur outside the regular visiting hours, the twilight experience is not yet open to the public. The museum is developing a program and will inform the visitors through their website and newsletter.
